At the heart of SLS Kunststoffprofile, more than 30 modern extrusion lines operate every day. Around 110 employees work across three shifts to ensure that production runs continuously and with precision – from material feeding through to cutting the finished profile to length. The products manufactured here range from delicate lightweight profiles weighing 20 grams per metre to solid industrial profiles weighing 5 kilograms per metre.

Fully automated, precise and flexible

The process on an extrusion line at SLS is fully automated throughout: plastic granulate is fed in, melted in the extruder and forced through a custom-made extrusion die to form the profile. The profile then passes through calibration and cooling units before being cut precisely to the required length. Every step is precisely controlled – manual intervention is reduced to a minimum.

This automation makes it possible to manufacture both small production runs of just a few hundred metres and large-volume orders extending over several kilometres economically. This makes SLS a suitable partner for both prototypes and ongoing series supply.

Throughput: 10 to 400 kg per hour

Depending on the line and the profile geometry, our extruders process between 10 and 400 kilograms of material per hour. This wide range is no coincidence: SLS operates lines of different sizes and output classes in order to provide the optimum balance of speed, precision and material efficiency for each application.

When a new extrusion die is introduced, it is mounted, set up and subjected to a sampling run directly on the line. Only after successful sampling is the die released for series production – a process that ensures quality from the outset.

Material diversity for a wide range of applications

SLS processes a wide range of technical plastics: PVC, PE, ABS and PP are part of the portfolio, along with other special materials. This material diversity makes it possible to develop profiles for a wide range of industries and requirements – whether for vehicle manufacturing, the construction industry, mechanical engineering or the furniture sector.

The range is complemented by co-extrusion and post-co-extrusion. These processes allow different materials, colours or hardness levels to be combined in a single profile. This results in products that perform several functions simultaneously – for example, a soft sealing element on a rigid carrier profile.
