At SLS, a dedicated secondary operations department handles the work between extrusion and the product being ready for dispatch—an arrangement that is not standard across the industry. Around ten employees machine, assemble and pack plastic profiles to exact customer specifications. Their work ranges from precision machining to tenths of a millimetre through to order picking and packing for dispatch in customer-branded packaging.

Precision cutting, drilling and milling

Profiles coming directly from the extrusion line often do not yet have the final component geometry. In the secondary operations department, they undergo further machining using modern machinery: cutting to an accuracy of one tenth of a millimetre, drilling and milling in accordance with drawings. This precision machining is necessary to ensure that customers can install the profiles without additional machining.

SLS uses cutting and milling equipment, including automated systems, as well as specialised tools matched to the respective profile geometries.

Assembly: from individual profiles to complete sets

Many customers require ready-to-use assemblies rather than individual profiles. SLS combines several profiles into complete sets—for example, for window sills, door profile systems or other installation solutions. Every assembly step is documented, and unit counts and quality are checked throughout the process. The result is an assembly that can be incorporated directly into the customer’s production process.

Packing in customer-specified packaging

For many customers, the value added by SLS does not end with the finished profile, but only once the unit is ready for dispatch. SLS packs products directly into the customer-specified packaging—including custom branding, labelling and packaging suitable for shipping. Customers with their own private-label brands or those selling profiles under their company name receive goods that are ready for immediate resale.
